Diptères HOMEODACTYLES, les Stratiomyidae ont le troisième article des antennes formé de 4 à 8 sous articles peu mobiles; un chête apical exceptionnellement chez les Chloromyiinae (Geosarginae). Les tibias n'ont pas d'éperon.
